eBay accuses Amazon of recruiting vendors on competing platform

“We found an illegal and troubling scheme by Amazon, which asks eBay sellers to migrate to the Amazon platform,” the company said in a statement.

According to the California Supreme Court complaint, eBay accuses the competitor of “infiltrating and exploiting eBay’s integrated messaging system” in Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Australia, Singapore and the United States, with the objective of to divert sellers and increase numbers on your online platform.

“We are calling for an end to this illegal activity and we will take appropriate action as necessary to protect eBay,” the company warned.

Earlier this month, eBay already publicly complained about this practice that it considers illegal.

The alert was given to eBay by one of the vendors contacted by Amazon in September before the investigation began, which has identified at least 50 employees responsible for diversion of customers in recent years.
